Bridge Street Stone began in 1991 when Michael Smith set up a small reclaimed stone business in Colne. With a focus on quality and a growing reputation, the company became a trusted supplier of Yorkstone paving, setts, and roofing stone across the UK. In the late 1990s, we pioneered the import of Indian Sandstone to the North of England, marking a turning point in our growth.
A Family Business Driving Expansion
In 1999, Michael’s son Stephen joined the business, helping to expand our direct import operations and diversify our product range. By 2007, we had grown into an industry leader, but like many businesses, we faced challenges during the 2008 financial crisis. Through resilience and commitment to quality, we adapted and emerged stronger, shifting towards retail, trade counter sales, and large-scale projects.

In 2015, Stephen took ownership, driving further innovation. We expanded our showrooms, grew our production capabilities, and established a strong online presence. This approach helped us navigate the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, reinforcing our reputation as a trusted supplier.
Expanding Into North Yorkshire
In 2024, we took another significant step by opening a new branch in Killinghall, Harrogate, extending our reach into North Yorkshire. Today, we’re on track to become a £5 million business, continuing our legacy of expertise, innovation, and outstanding service.
